Home Health Aide (HHA) Job Overview
Home Health Aides help elderly, convalescent, or disabled persons in:
They work for licensed home care agencies under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
o grooming,
o toileting,
o assisting with range of motion exercises, walking, transferring, using medical supplies and equipment such as walkers, and wheelchair
o measuring Vital signs,
o feeding,
o reminding the client about medications
o making and changing bed linens
o changing simple dressings
o light cleaning, including dusting, vacuuming, and washing dishes
o teaching home management and safety
- adult day services
- sub-acute care
- rehabilitation facilities
- hospice
- their own homes
They work for licensed home care agencies under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
- Introduction to Homemaking Tasks, Cleaning the Client’s House, Economical Cleaning Materials and How to Use Them, Specific Tasks, General Rules of Safety in the Home, Fire and Safety Prevention, Poisons, Oxygen Safety, Making Your Own Cleaning Equipment.
- provide essential services for clients who cannot live alone without help. They keep households functioning as normally as possible and enable the sick to remain at home instead of moving to a nursing home.
- HHA provides services to Clients such as:
- Providing care or assisting with self-care
- Maintaining a safe, secure, & comfortable home life
- Promoting clients’ independence by practicing good housekeeping, nutrition, and healthcare skills like:
o grooming,
o toileting,
o assisting with range of motion exercises, walking, transferring, using medical supplies and equipment such as walkers, and wheelchair
o measuring Vital signs,
o feeding,
o reminding the client about medications
o making and changing bed linens
o changing simple dressings

- Current PHYSICAL EXAM WITH TB TEST
- Current HEALTHCARE PROVIDER CPR WITH AED
- Bring current CNA certificate, or Proof of Passing State Competency Examination
