American Heart Association CPR Class Information
You must be CPR certified before applying for jobs as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or a home health aide (HHA). Currently, we offer American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Providers Course.
- The AHA BLS for Providers class is about 6 hours long (4 hours of instruction + 1-2 hours of written & skills testing)
- CPR class costs $100.00. You may pay using cash or money order, we do not accept personal or business checks.
- The eCard you will receive that same day is valid for 2 years. Information about the eCard can be found here

AHA Basic Life Support for Providers
CPR classes are held every Saturday at 9:30 am - 2:30 pm (5 hours) and cost of class is $100.00

- Call in to reserve a spot in the CPR class. You can reach us at (510) 481-0240 or (510) 481-0360. Leave your full name and telephone number and email. We may need to call your in case the CPR class is cancelled.
- CPR instructors will only be at VIP Nursing School if there are at least 2 students registered to take a class. If the CPR class is cancelled, we will call to inform you with the number you provided us.
- The latest you can register for a class is the Friday before the upcoming Saturday CPR class. We prefer you give us at least 3-4 days notice if you plan on attending the class on a specific date on Saturday.
- Please show up at least ten minutes before start time in order to complete sign in and introduction. Do not be late. Once the class has started, you cannot join in. Late comers will have to attend the next CPR class.
- If you cannot take CPR classes on Saturdays, we may be able to accommodate you. A class can only be scheduled when a minimum of 2-3 students is enrolled. Please call and make an arrangement with the Admission Coordinator at the same phone number above.
Additional Information about the CPR Class
- This class is somewhat strenuous. If you are ill or injured, consider taking the class at a later date.
- Please wear comfortable clothing and wear minimal to no make up. Bold or bright lipstick is not recommended for you will have to provide breaths to the CPR manikins.
- Bring food and drinks with you to eat during the break times. You are not allowed to eat or drink during class time.
